This course provides a comprehensive overview of the oil and gas regulatory environment in the United States, with a special focus on the recent advancements aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA's primary strategy to facilitate the clean energy transition involves providing subsidies to U.S. companies, households, and sub-national governments, incentivizing investments that contribute to GHG emission reductions. This course will cover the key actors, regulations and provisions of the IRA, offering essential ‘facts and figures’ to understand the incentives such as 45V and 45Q, which promote clean hydrogen production and CO2 storage, along with other enabling features. Learning Objectives Understand the overall regulatory environment of the U.S. oil and gas industry Gain a deeper understanding of GHG emissions reduction initiatives through the IRA Assess actionable opportunities arising from the IRA Course Developers The Evaluate Energy ESG Learning team consists of researchers, oil and gas writers, and e-learning design specialists along with the collective data intelligence and analytics capabilities of geoLOGIC systems.
